IEEE International Conference on Computer Communications
20–23 May 2024 // Vancouver, Canada

Conference Travel Grant

IEEE INFOCOM 2024 Organizing Committee has received additional funding from IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc) to support in-person participation at the conference. Unlike our open call for applications for the Student Travel Grant (STG) which is only open to students, the Conference Travel Grant (CTG) is open to all members of ComSoc including non-students such as faculty and industry employees, especially those who have financial shortcomings and cannot obtain funding to support their travels. IEEE INFOCOM 2024 will be held on 20-23 May, 2024 in Vancouver, Canada.

Eligibility Criteria

The Conference Travel Grant (CTG) aims at providing financial support for participation in IEEE INFOCOM 2024. The requirements for eligibility for the CTG are:

1. must be a ComSoc member (can be faculty member, student, industry employee, or other professional)

2. an in-person conference participant who registers INFOCOM 2024 at the full registration rate

3. unable to obtain substantial sponsorships from his/her institution or other sources, and forced to cover most of all the associated expenses with own funds

4. cannot receive any other ComSoc grant for INFOCOM 2024

An eligible candidate can apply for CTG for financial support by giving the reason for the trip and with detailed estimation of traveling costs and why he/she cannot obtain such funding. The applicant needs to indicate his/her financial shortcomings. The preference will be given to applicants in the following order of descending priority:

1. low GDP per capita of the country of residence/work

2. long distance of the country of residence/work from the conference venue

3. presenter or author of an accepted paper at INFOCOM 2024 (including demo, poster, and workshop papers)

4. review evaluation of an accepted paper (if any)

CTG will be paid as reimbursement after the conference.

Application Procedure

An applicant of CTG should submit his/her application through the EDAS website. The application should consist of the following documents, and incomplete application will not be considered.

1. a request letter from the applicant (see below)

2. a short CV

The letter from the applicant should be at most one page, and include the following information:

1. country of residence and country of birth

2. ComSoc member number

3. accepted paper number (if any)

4. an estimate of the following costs of attending INFOCOM: airfare, hotel, and conference registration

5. why the applicant cannot obtain funding to support the travel (indicating the financial shortcomings)

6. a brief summary of research interests and accomplishments to date; applicant should demonstrate a serious interest in networking, through research, project, teaching, and/or course work

7. a statement about why attending INFOCOM is important to the applicant

Applicants should create their application as a single PDF file, following the format described above. After login to EDAS, click on the “Travel Grants" tab, look for a conference called "INFOCOM 2024 IEEE ComSoc Conference Travel Grant”, and then submit the application.
